It is known for enshrining the statue of Maya. The former head temple is Kuon-ji Temple on Mount Minobu. It is affiliated with Ikegami Nakanobu and Ikegami Daibo (Ken no ji). The temple is said to have been founded in 1667 (Kanbun 7). In 1677 (Enpo 5), the statue of the founder was created, and in 1678 (Enpo 6), the statue of Maya was enshrined. Many of the statues were moved to this temple from Hokke-ji Temple (present-day Enyu-ji Temple) during the suppression of the Nichiren sect's Fuju Fuse school. The Maya-do, where Maya is enshrined, was built during the Tenpo era (1830-1843). Afterwards, it was spared from disasters such as the Great Kanto Earthquake and World War II. The main hall was completed in 1978.
