If you put in a collar core, it will look stiff like origami, so try not using a separate collar core and instead tailoring the collar of the undergarment with a stiff Mikawa core. It creates a neat atmosphere without making the collar look unnatural. With this, you can wear commercially available undergarments like "usotsuki juban" (false undergarment) without feeling too out of place. Try folding the undergarment with this collar core set in place. You will understand how soft it is. I recommend a hard type when the collar is quite heavy, such as with heavy oni-chirimen or hiyoku tailoring, but this is recommended for everyday use.
