This product uses bamboo from Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture. The bamboo is harvested, washed, split into four pieces, peeled, and the width is adjusted. It takes time to process the material until it is thinly processed. After that, it is woven over a period of about 3 hours. While it may not have the perfection of a mass-produced item, it is well-received for its handmade warmth. When weaving the zaru (bamboo basket), legs are attached to four places. When serving soba or udon, a gap is created between the basket and the serving plate, allowing for good drainage. Although it was made as a soba zaru, it is also used for storing small items such as sweets. After use, if it is dried well, there will be no problems with its use. It is durable and long-lasting.
