This is a lidded tea bowl purchased at an antique market. It's a gorgeous and opulent lidded item. I've been admiring it as a decorative piece. It features two types of geometric patterns in the background, with two types of stylized windows. One has pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms. The other has clouds and a phoenix, or perhaps dancing cranes. There are two poses. The inside of the bowl depicts carp ascending a waterfall. They are adorably deformed. It's an unusual design. The rim pattern is a shihou tasuki (four-direction sash) pattern. The foot pattern is a chigai nami (alternating waves) pattern. The foot ring has a marubatsu (circle-cross) pattern. The mark is "Kaku-fuku" (square good fortune) on the foot of the lid. There is a chip on the foot of the lid. There is a crack (nyu) on the bottom of the bowl. Otherwise, it appears to be kiln marks. Please examine the images carefully. I was told it's from the late Edo period, from the end of the Edo period to around the Meiji era. Size (with lid) Approximately 12.5 cm wide Approximately 8 cm high
