There seem to be scratches and cracks on the back, but there's no problem with use... I bought the bowl at a specialty store. It's a thick item. I've used it several times, and at home, I used it for miso ramen. I'll wrap it in bubble wrap for shipping. I marked it as having some dirt, but it can still be used for a long time.
