The fluffy Gabbeh rugs are originally lightweight. For nomadic people who travel through harsh environments such as mountains and deserts, they serve as convenient floor coverings, bedding, and sometimes as covers to protect donkeys and chickens from the cold nights. In recent years, due to the popularity of Gabbeh rugs in Europe and Japan, the production for export as interior items such as floor coverings and wall hangings has also increased.
