One-of-a-kind item. Over several months, dozens of types of flower-patterned glass beads called murrine (also known as "kintaro-ame" in Japanese) are made, laid out in a mold, shaped through two firings, and then carefully polished one by one over a long period of time to create this small plate. This workshop also makes the murrine necessary for producing the plates from scratch. It's a plate that looks like a flower garden in full bloom with various colors of flowers, so it's also called millefiori (Italian for "a thousand flowers"). Moretti also makes similar plates, but this one uses murrine that are about half the size of those used by Moretti. Therefore, even though the plates are about the same size, the amount of "murrine used is twice as much," making it more delicate and lighter in finish, although it takes more time. It's lovely to display as is, and it's also wonderful for serving Japanese sweets, cakes, cookies, fruits, etc. It's a Venetian glass plate with a bold use of color unique to Italy, with the charm of instantly brightening up the table. Unfortunately, this workshop has stopped producing millefiori plates and is now making large-scale art glass, so it is a rare item that can only be obtained as vintage. New, unused old stock.
