This is an Akuraku fundou-game (weight-shaped turtle) incense container. It is unknown whether it is from the Raku family. There is a mark on the inside of the lid that appears to be a tea master's kao (signature), so it's possible that a tea master had it fired at a Raku kiln. Of course, it could also be from a Kyoyaki (Kiyomizu-yaki) kiln. The period appears to be late Edo to Meiji, but it could be older, or it could be from after the Meiji era. I don't know. There are small scratches. The box is likely original. Length: Approximately 7.2cm The size is approximate. The actual item may differ slightly in color from the image. As it is an old item, there are age-related scratches, stains, etc.
