78 rpm SP record. This is Polydor 67910/2 from Germany (12-inch, 3-disc set). The first disc is a Yurika label, and the others are light blue with navy blue lettering. The record surfaces have only minor paper scuffs that don't affect the sound; otherwise, they are in pristine, like-new condition. The preservation is excellent. The recording features Beethoven's "String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 'Serioso'." The performers are the Stross Quartet. Recorded February 20, 1942. A legendary record that needs no introduction. An important repertoire by the legendary Stross Quartet. Post-war Yurika label pressings of this recording also exist, but many (or perhaps all) have a cutting error, with side 2 mistakenly pressed on side 5. This set has a correctly cut side 5, allowing for the complete performance to be enjoyed. The wartime pressings of the latter two discs were originally produced in extremely small numbers, and many were lost in the war, making it nearly impossible to find a beautiful copy. In that sense, the existence of this particular set is a miracle. A Terra Rare record.
