A very lovely vintage Japanese umbrella from Kyoto. This valuable item was purchased in Kyoto over 50 years ago and has been stored unused. Size: Total length approximately 68.5 cm, diameter when open approximately 71 cm (tip to tip approximately 72.5 cm), maximum width when folded approximately 6.5 cm, handle bamboo diameter approximately 1.2 cm Materials: Bamboo, Japanese paper Features a stylish floral pattern in royal blue, ivory white, and blue-green, reminiscent of chrysanthemums. The floral design and color scheme are both beautiful. Perfect for interior decoration or dance performances. A valuable construction made only of bamboo and Japanese paper. Approximately 34 bamboo ribs are used in the umbrella frame, and the outer ribs and ferrule are coated in black. The edge is trimmed with blue-green tape, but there are some areas where the trimming has shifted and is entirely inside. (It's not very noticeable and hard to spot, but please be aware of this.) The Japanese paper does not appear to have a waterproof coating, so if you intend to use it, it is likely for use as a parasol and not as a rain umbrella. To open, gently spread the bottom of the umbrella with your hands and then move the runner. It has been stored unused without being displayed. Overall in good condition, but as original, there are some minor paint chips, areas of rough paint, fading, bleeding, a few small spots, and a few light brown line stains. Black streaks naturally occur between the ribs when folded. Please understand and accept the vintage nature of the item and the points described before purchasing.
