Villeroy & Boch, a German company, was founded in 1748 by François Boch in the Lorraine region of France. Later, a factory was established in Luxembourg. With the support of the Habsburg family, it developed as a royal warrant porcelain manufacturer. In 1836, it merged with the Villeroy family, who were rivals in pottery production, and established its headquarters in Germany, becoming Villeroy & Boch. Combining their strengths, they were among the first to industrialize production, becoming one of the world's three major porcelain companies, alongside Meissen and Royal Copenhagen. Currently, it is a German porcelain company headquartered in Mettlach.
