Satsuma Kiriko is made with a sophisticated technique of wiping colored glass and then layering transparent glass inside to create a close bond, and then carving delicate patterns on the surface. Despite its size, it has a substantial feel, and the soft gradation of the cut areas, created by the thickness of the colored glass, is attractive and beautiful. Tsuji Glass Kogei's Satsuma Kiriko glasses are characterized by the added enjoyment of the weight that is felt in the hand due to the thickness of the glass. The old signature of the artist, "TUJI," is also present on the bottom of the glass.
