I am selling them now because I am redecorating and will be using different curtains. They were custom-made and cost around 80,000 yen for the two windows at the time, and are very high-quality curtains. They have pleated processing, so the curtain rail is hidden. They have a very beautiful pattern, and when light passes through, the pattern appears to float. They do not completely block out light, but they are a medium thickness and allow a gentle light to pass through, which seems like it would promote a comfortable awakening. They were hung in an audio room, and I have never smoked, so I don't think there is any particular smell. I also do not have any pets. They would be great for use as curtains, of course, but I think they would also be wonderful for secondary use. There is a tag on the back of the curtains that says "株式会社ＵＥＮＯ" (Kabushiki-gaisha UENO), the name of a general trading company specializing in interior design located in Sendai.
