This is an unused inkstone, but it's an Amehata inkstone that has been tuned by Minista (remodeling the ink well and ink surface to improve the inkstone's performance). It has a grape pattern carved on it (as it's from Yamanashi), and "Amehata Shinseki Mineki Koku" is carved on the back of the inkstone. It was made by Mr. Mineki Amemiya of Mineido, located in Yamanashi Prefecture (a modern master craftsman). It grinds ink smoothly and comfortably, as a traditional Japanese inkstone should. It grinds ink very well, and the ink color is also good. It disperses ink well, and the ink spreads well, allowing you to use it for both thick and light ink, and write good lines. It's a good inkstone for both oil soot ink and pine soot ink. Suitable for kana (up to full-size paper), kanji (up to half-size paper), and ink painting.
