The GMW-B5000 series is a full-metal version of the G-SHOCK's first model, the DW-5000C, which was born in 1983, retaining its iconic square design while incorporating advanced features such as smartphone linking. The shock-resistant structure, which sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the metal bezel and the main case made of hard stainless steel, realizes a full-metal case. The size is also kept thanks to high-density mounting technology. A screw-back case with a sense of weight is used for the back cover, and DLC treatment is applied for excellent abrasion resistance. In addition, soft urethane material is used for the band to improve the fit. Visibility is also improved by using film solar cells and STN-LCD (liquid crystal).
