King Seiko Chronometer Ref. 4420-9990 SS Lion Medallion Hand-wound KING SEIKO Chronometer This is the top-of-the-line King Seiko, the "44 King Seiko Chronometer 4420-9990." The Cal. 4420A movement is equipped with 27 jewels, two more than the standard 44KS (25 jewels), and features a low-beat specification. The Cal. 4420A also has a hacking function using a cam-shaped regulator lever. The case back features the lion medallion, the same symbol of chronometer status as on Grand Seiko. Production lasted only about two years from 1964, and because it was priced similarly to the 44 Grand Seiko, sales did not increase, making it a very rare model today. This item is a late-model with the "CHRONOMETER" inscription at the 12 o'clock position in block letters. It features a combination of multi-faceted bar indexes and dolphin hands. A characteristic of this model is the simple and refined design of the second hand, which has a unique, bulbous tip. The SS case has a round form with thick lugs. The case back is a screw-back type, providing excellent airtightness and water resistance. The lion medallion, the symbol of chronometer status, is embedded. The band is a non-original leather strap with a SEIKO buckle.
