The gray areas are due to the fact that the teacups were buried in ash in the kiln and not directly exposed to fire, and this type of pattern in Bizen-yaki is called "Sangiri." This piece has a magnificent Sangiri pattern, and the gradation of the moist, beautiful gray and crimson colors stands out.
