Recommended for those aiming for a warm, rustic, and raw sound reminiscent of the 1920s-1950s, such as in country, hillbilly, rockabilly, blues, R&B, old jazz, and gypsy jazz. The tension is not high, making it very easy on the left-hand fingers, and slap techniques are also easy to perform. The appeal lies in the percussive slap sound unique to plain gut strings, which lacks sharp edges. Depending on how you create the sound, these strings can also be effective in powerful genres like psychobilly, neo-rockabilly, and rustic. For pizzicato playing, the ADG strings are fine, but you might feel that the E string needs a bit more tension. Specifically, the sound's outline becomes blurred, and there is almost no sustain (this is unavoidable due to the low tension of the thicker string). Regarding durability, I have an instrument that I've been using for almost 4 years without any maintenance, and I haven't experienced any particular problems; it's still working fine. I haven't loosened the pegs when the instrument isn't in use. (The strings' lifespan should have long passed, but I'm not concerned about the generally accepted lifespan of strings because I use them for a vintage American music instrument.)
