The already released 1973 performance with Arthaus NHK was also phenomenal, but Mravinsky is truly amazing. I'm astonished by this 1977 performance as well. Tchaikovsky's 5th is one of Mravinsky's specialties, and many recordings of it exist, but this performance is among the best, leaving one simply dumbfounded by their superhuman intensity.
