The ink well, the hill, and the edges display a beautiful pattern of light green-blue stone veins on a reddish-brown background, resembling stars, making it unique. In particular, the name of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, where Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, is enshrined, is engraved on the underside.
