This is a small, rotary rice huller used to separate husked rice (brown rice) from rice husks after threshing. It is suitable for harvesting from bucket rice to about one row of paddy field. With use, there will be wear and tear on the rubbing surfaces, as well as cracks due to drying shrinkage caused by weather conditions. Similar to the surface correction of a whetstone, the area where the rice concentrates will wear down, and eventually, it will be necessary to keep the rice hulling surface flat. I hope you will use this as a reference for your own maintenance and for self-sufficiency in rice production, including the creation of a rice huller. I am also working towards sustainable self-sufficiency, and I will continue to create various tools and farm implements to transition from buying rice to producing my own. Please understand that the farm tools I create are not finished products with the refined techniques of a professional woodworker, but rather are finished to a level suitable for everyday woodworking. How to use: Insert a small amount of threshed rice from the top inlet of the rice huller and slowly rotate the top of the rice huller with both hands to the left 2-3 times, hulling the rice lightly. Continue hulling continuously while gradually adding more rice. The larger rice grains are hulled first, and they are discharged from the gap between the top and bottom of the rice huller by centrifugal force. Adjust the hulling by incorporating right rotations. Smaller rice grains are difficult to hull. Once, put them in a large bowl and rotate the bowl. Due to the difference in friction coefficient between brown rice and husks, the husks will gather near the center. Hull only that part again with the rice huller. After that, the separation of brown rice and husks is completed by using a commercially available winnowing machine.
