This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It appears to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely that it was used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. The touch is wonderfully soft from hand-spun yarn, and it feels like it has been used extensively. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color is refreshing. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about cotton dust, the unique smell of old cloth, or the smell of mothballs.
