Kokeshi Artist: Teruyuki Takahashi (1940- ) Naruko Onsen, Miyagi Prefecture; Naruko-style kokeshi Purchased in Naruko approximately 26 years ago. His teacher was Kokeshi artist Morio Takahashi (1917-2000), and this is a wonderful piece that carries on the tradition of the Takakan Kokeshi. It features a rounded shoulder and body, a large chrysanthemum design on the body, and an elegant face. Size: Height approx. 24.5cm, Body base diameter approx. 6cm, Head diameter approx. 6.5cm There is some discoloration and staining of the wood due to aging. I think there is little fading or damage.
