I received this from a relative, but I have never worn it. The fabric is sturdy and doesn't seem see-through, so I think you can wear it without worry. It has been stored in a dark box. There is a smell typical of new items, but I think it will come out with washing. It has a #Ladys Marron brand tag, but the clothing tag itself is in Korean, and the tags inside the garment, such as the care instructions, say "Made in China."
