While round versions of this design are relatively common, I have never seen another one like this, in a vertical shape. I purchased this medal several years ago from a shop in the United States that specializes in European antique medals. It dates back to the Art Nouveau period, nearly 100 years ago, and shows no wear, with even the fine details of the hair still intact. Cecilia is the patron saint of music, so she is often depicted with musical instruments, and this medal features the pipes of a pipe organ and musical scores. Additionally, as Cecilia was a martyr, the palm leaf, a symbol of martyrdom, is also depicted. This medal is for someone who appreciates its rarity and value.
