Unlike carpets, it has a casual feel. Being a long and narrow type, it will make a statement in entry halls, hallways, kitchens, etc. I think it will brighten up the space and look lovely when you lay it down. I put a "non-slip mat" under my kilim. You can buy them at home centers. For care, I "wipe it with a well-wrung mop." Occasionally, I hang it outside and gently tap it.
