This is a flower vase from Nanki Otokoyama ware, one of the three major ceramics that supported the domain finances of the Kishu Domain, along with Kairakuen and Zuishiyaki. Nanki Otokoyama ware was established in Bunsei 10 (1827) on the hillside of Hiro Hachiman Shrine in Hiro Village, Kishu. The Kishu lord invited potters such as Eiraku Zengoro Hoju from Kyoto, and the kiln continued to operate until Meiji 11 (1878). The remaining Nanki Otokoyama ware from that time seems to be mostly dyed miscellaneous items, but it appears that masterpieces such as tea utensils and Kochi ware were also fired by the potters. This flower vase is believed to be a work from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era. There is one old chip on the rim. There are no chips or cracks. The foot has age-related soiling. Please check the condition in the photos. One of the four wooden nails inside the old box is missing. Height: 21.4 cm Diameter: 12 cm
