I recently cut and crafted a mechanical pencil from newly acquired Jindaikenponashi wood. It has a color similar to Jindaikeiyaki (ancient zelkova), but the wood grain is slightly different. While it's originally about as hard as zelkova, this wood feels a bit lighter. There's a wormhole in the center, and the part that had decayed and peeled off near the clip has been repaired. Therefore, the price is reduced to an outlet price of 4500 yen, instead of the usual 6000 yen. The pen shape is a slim drop shape with a slight bulge at the tip. The basic size is a total length of 133mm, a maximum shaft diameter of approximately 14.4mm, and a minimum of 10.3mm, weighing approximately 23g. It has a guide pipe and a single-action mechanism. The refill contains an HB monitor lead. Also, the clip hardware in the image is a removable knurled type, but there is also a clip-movable type that cannot be removed.
