A beautiful set of three Tachikichi dishes: a large plate, medium plates, and small plates, featuring a contrasting blue and white pattern. The "Kichikichi (たち吉)" stamp is the name of the shop used by the first shop owner of the company, which was founded in Kyoto during the Edo period. The design of the tachibana (mandarin orange) is also used in the family crest. In the Meiji era, the 8th head of the family changed the shop name to "Tachikichi," and the current brand name was born. Products bearing the "Kichikichi" stamp have a particularly strong historical background. They are often used in traditional Japanese tableware series and in collaboration products with specific kilns. This is a set of three: one large plate, five medium plates, and five small plates, all featuring the "Kichikichi" sometsuke (blue and white) floral pattern with a ringed flower design, arabesque, and peony motifs. I purchased these a while ago at a department store in Tokyo for use during my time in the United States. However, I rarely had the opportunity to host proper Japanese meals in America, so they were hardly used. After returning to Japan, they remained in their boxes, stored in a closet. These "Kichikichi" dishes have traveled between Japan and the United States. I would be happy if someone could use them. The large plate does not have a box, but the medium and small plates do. All of them have been used only a few times. They are in very good condition. The small plates, in particular, are unused. Please check the images for the condition.
