This is a water box jointly crafted by the second and third generation Saiei of Kawaguchi Wakan, who carry on the techniques of Edo and the traditional craft of Edo Wakan, which I purchased at a traditional crafts exhibition in Edo several years ago. It is a truly magnificent water box made of Japanese cypress, with silk thread applied and then repeatedly coated with domestic genuine lacquer, and finished. I heard that it took over a year to produce, and it is a very impressive item. This water box, with such meticulous attention to detail, is a wonderful piece unlike any other! The cord is made of Sanada braid with a black persimmon stopper. This item has been stored unused, and although there are no visible scratches, there may be minor scratches due to long-term storage, so please be aware of this. The size is 6 sun, which is 18 x 14 x 9 cm. With a design that looks like black with red sprinkled throughout, this is a wonderful water box, unlike any other, carefully crafted by a Japanese rod craftsman.
