To minimize changes after finishing, the reeds are made over a period of about two months from assembly to finishing. During finishing, the reeds are carved to ensure that the "p" (piano) articulation responds without problems, and that the balance is good from low to high notes, allowing for a wide range from "p" to "f" (forte). The reeds are finished so that a vibrant tone is maintained even when playing "f".
