Thank you for viewing. Approximately 14.3cm wide and 11cm high. There is a scratch (about 1cm) on the last photo. Isaburo Kado (1940-2005) Born in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1940. At the urging of his father, who said, "You're not smart, so do chinkin," he became a disciple of Tetsushiro Hashimoto, a master of chinkin (a technique of carving fine lines into lacquer and applying gold), at the age of 15. After finishing his training in 1962, Kado began to create lacquer panels and painting-like works using the chinkin technique. He was strongly influenced by American avant-garde art such as Jasper Johns, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, and Sam Francis, as well as Klee and Kandinsky, and immersed himself in contemporary lacquer art. He was selected for the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) for the first time at the age of 24, and was selected 17 times thereafter, and received the Nitten Special Prize in his 30s.
