Thank you for viewing. This is one of the porcelain pieces from Meissen, a popular German brand, and has been part of my collection for many years. I have enjoyed displaying it on a shelf, but I am now selling it to organize my shelves. It can be used for both coffee and tea. This is the "Blue Onion" pattern, completed in 1739 by Kretschmer, utilizing the underglaze blue technique of Chinese imitation. The generally accepted explanation is that the pomegranate in the design was mistaken for an onion. The unfamiliar fruit has been transformed into the familiar onion, and the bamboo, a symbol of immortality, is arranged in a balanced manner. Along with the mystery of the numbers combined, auspicious "symbols" of Chinese origin are also depicted within the design itself. - Material: Porcelain - Size: Cup: Diameter approx. 14cm, Capacity approx. 190ml Saucer: Diameter approx. 15.5cm - Interior Design: Floral pattern on the inside of the cup. I purchased it new and only displayed it, so I don't see any scratches to the untrained eye. However, since it has been in someone's possession even without being used, please refrain from purchasing if you are particular about it being brand new. There is no original box, so I will pack it securely in another box and ship it.
