The first half, "Genshoku Zukan" (Color Illustrated Guide), features 105 color photographs and explanations of Western lamps (kerosene lamps), covering various types and uses, from ornate decorative lamps to simple, practical ones. You can enjoy just looking at the photographs of these lamps, which were also considered craftworks and works of art. The second half, "Yoto Ko" (Study of Western Lamps), details the history of kerosene lamps in Japan. It's a very helpful book for learning when they arrived in Japan and what kinds of lamps existed. No outer box. No writing. There doesn't appear to be any particular damage, but as it's a 50-year-old book, there is some age-related wear.
