In my case, I refer to bamboo with a maximum node diameter of approximately 35mm or more as "ultra-thick." This size is the least common in the bamboo grove where I harvest Hotei bamboo. After lightly removing the buds, I gently sand down the surrounding protrusions and thoroughly wash the bamboo with a brush. Thank you.
