Hasami Town is adjacent to Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, which is famous for its ceramics, Arita-yaki. The clay used as raw material is also porcelain stone mined from the Amakusa Peninsula in Kumamoto Prefecture, which is used in Arita-yaki. Because Hasami-yaki is often mass-produced, instead of one craftsman completing a single piece from start to finish, the creation of the器 is done through a division of labor. When shaping the器, molds are used instead of hand-forming.
