In my case, I refer to the Hotei bamboo with the thickest node diameter of about 15-20mm as "thin." In the bamboo grove where I collect Hotei bamboo, this size is the second most numerous after the medium thickness. First, I lightly remove the buds of the bamboo, then lightly sand the surrounding protrusions, and finally, I wash them thoroughly with a brush. Some have been heat-treated to correct bending.
