This is a beautiful obi-dome (sash clip) featuring a plump sparrow with jewels and colors reminiscent of a painting. This is a repurposed vintage accessory. In the cold winter months, the image of sparrows puffing up their feathers to become round is called "fukura-suzume" (plump sparrow). This form is considered a symbol of abundance and a life free from food shortages.
