Block Lamp This Block Lamp quickly became a historic design upon its release in 1996, and in 2000, it became part of MoMA's permanent collection. The Block Lamp won the Swedish Design Award of Excellence in 1998, the Design Plus award at the Ambiente exhibition in Frankfurt in 1999, and was selected as Best New Item at the Accent exhibition in New York. It became an instant hit upon its release in 1996 and won numerous design awards. Harri Koskinen About the Designer Born in Finland in 1970. Graduated from the Lahti Design School and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Began working as a freelance designer with Iittala and other manufacturers while still a student in 1996. Founded Friends of Industry Ltd. in 2000. Held his first solo exhibition at MDS Gallery (Tokyo). His design activities are wide-ranging, from glassware to speakers, watches, and furniture.
