Thank you for viewing. Here is an introduction to a fully operational Märklin HO gauge analog 3098 German Federal Railroad Class 38 (P8) steam locomotive, overhauled. It's about 60 years old, but it has been carefully overhauled over time. Some parts were ordered from Germany and replaced. The motor, reversing mechanism, and headlight operation are all in perfect working order. This is the 3098.1, the first generation early model of the 3098 series. Considering it's a model from about 60 years ago, the 3098s from this era that still exist often have poor paint condition, or the drive system (especially the motor and reversing mechanism) is usually damaged, so I think those in relatively good condition are rare. The body is die-cast and has a substantial weight. Unlike most Märklin products, the inside of the cab is also precisely reproduced. Also, as shown in the photos, the arrangement of the reversing mechanism and motor is unusual, with the motor in the front and the reversing mechanism in the rear (most Märklin products have the opposite arrangement). It has a lot of torque and exhibits powerful pulling power, which is hard to believe for a vintage item. The actual locomotive, between 1906 and 1928, about 3,800 locomotives were manufactured, of which 3,370 were for the Prussian State Railways. Therefore, it might be more accurate to call it the Prussian State Railways P8 steam locomotive rather than the German Federal Railroad Class 38. It's difficult to obtain items in good condition these days, so please consider this opportunity.
