○ Product Description ○ This is a Horai Hakuryu tea bowl made by the Living National Treasure, Uichi Shimizu. It is a beautiful and dignified masterpiece. ○ Uichi Shimizu (1926-2004) ○ A ceramic artist from Kyoto who lived from the late Showa to the Heisei periods. He studied under Sojuro Ishiguro and researched Chinese iron glazes and persimmon glazes, presenting his works at the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition and gaining attention. He was also highly regarded overseas, including the Grand Prix at the Brussels World Exposition. He built the Horai kiln in Shiga, Shiga Prefecture. He was designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) in 1985.
