While generally rust-resistant, there are some rust marks, so it's not completely rust-proof. It has been sharpened with a "Hakka no Kuromaku" whetstone and a natural whetstone, and I believe it has a pretty good sharpness. There are rust marks, sharpening scratches, polishing scratches, and some degradation of the logo, but there is no major damage.
