I used these for my middle school daughter's recreational use. She didn't use them for competitions or long-distance travel, just for practice around the neighborhood. The wheels spin smoothly without any catching, but there are some scratches, mainly around the heels. They can be tightened securely, so they could be worn by adults as well as middle schoolers.
