This is a Nakazao (medium-neck) shamisen with a three-piece neck for sale. Nakazao shamisen have a sound range that is easy to harmonize with other instruments and the human voice, and are used in a wide variety of genres such as Jiuta, Sokyoku (Ikuta-ryu), folk songs, Hauta, and pop music. The three-piece neck structure allows the instrument to be folded, making it easy to carry and store, which is especially convenient for beginners and those who prioritize portability. There are three types of neck thickness: Hosozao (thin neck), Nakazao (medium neck), and Futozao (thick neck). The Nakazao is slightly thicker than the Hosozao and thinner than the Futozao, making it a medium thickness. Nakazao shamisen are ideal for accompanying folk songs and Jiuta, and are also used in ensembles with the koto (Japanese harp), characterized by their good tonal balance.
