For men, it's a size that can be worn over knitwear or sweatshirts. For women, I think it can be worn over thick items. I'm a 156cm woman, and I liked wearing it with a miniskirt. When my 170cm brother tried it on, I thought it would fit someone of average build, even over thick clothing.
