This is a modern version of a Yohen Tenmoku tea bowl. It is a work by Chen Jianxiong, a renowned artist in China, who is working to recreate the Yohen Tenmoku tea bowls that are considered national treasures in Japan. Previously, a famous appraisal program made headlines when a fourth Yohen Tenmoku tea bowl was discovered, of which only three (all national treasures) are known to exist in the world. I believe that this piece, made by Chen Jianxiong, is the closest in pattern to the existing national treasures. While there are artisans who attempt to recreate Yohen Tenmoku, it seems that no one has succeeded in the world so far. The three existing tea bowls were all made in the Jianyang region of Fujian Province, and it is said that this pattern can only be achieved with the soil from that land. This item for sale was also purchased from Chen Jianxiong's workshop in Jianyang.
