This is a hanging scroll suitable for an autumn tea ceremony, depicting the moon at dawn with a waka poem. The signature of Kofu Soshu is in the lower right. The outer title reads "Authentic Painting and Praise of Snow and Moon by Kofu Soshu of the Hisada School," and it has been authenticated by a predecessor. The ichimonji is finished with Takeyamachi fabric, and the mounting is also beautiful. There are some slight wrinkles and stains that can be seen upon close inspection, and there are areas where the lacquer on the jiku-saki (axis tip) is chipped, revealing the wood.
