It is made of wire, so it can be bent to fit the shape of your head. When I used it, I shaped it like an S. It was very sparkly and had a strong presence on its own. I think it would look good with either a dress or a Japanese-style outfit. When it arrived, some of the red beads had come off. I reattached them with glue to the parts that seemed likely to come off, but please be aware that they may come off again.
