Symbol: Special 58 Issue Date: December 10, 1963 Issuing Authority: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China (now China Post) Folk toys are a unique art form in Chinese folk crafts, strongly influenced by auspicious culture. They have brought richness to people's lives with their clear entertainment and playfulness, as well as their prayerful meanings. Folk toys are commonly called "za" (杂) in Chinese, and are considered to be for play and entertainment, and are also a spiritual activity that conveys folk cultural awareness through the form of entertainment. To introduce this traditional folk culture, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China issued special stamps featuring folk toys with rich regional characteristics. This set follows the "Special" stamp number system and features designs introducing cloth toys from various parts of China. The design of stamp (1), which has some damage, features a rooster (mud-made from Wuxi) and a sheep (mud-made from Beijing), and the design is by Lu Tianjiao. The design of stamp (2) on the lower left features a small cloth tiger (Qingdao) and a large cloth tiger (Beijing). The design of stamp (3) on the lower right features a camel (cloth-made, Beijing). This is a set of 3 used stamps as shown in the image, but one of them is significantly damaged, so please consider it as a bonus. The other two are in good condition for used stamps from that time.
