American stained glass, a cat. This is a replica by the Glassmasters company. Made in the USA, glass, with a metal frame. The flat glass is colored with transparent enamel painting, and has an uneven surface. It is a handmade item. The original is unknown, but the (C)AIC is printed near the bottom left, so I believe it is from the collection/exhibition of the Art Institute of Chicago. The cat looks like it's sleeping with its eyes closed, and the mice taking advantage of the situation are amusing. Size: Height: 12.8 cm, Width: 16.5 cm, Thickness: 0.6 cm. The frame is a little large and loose, and the edges of the glass are a little visible, but I don't think it will affect viewing. Glassmasters (Glassmasters of the Stained Glass Guild) is based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. They received commissioned license production of replicas of items from the collections of many museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (THE MET / MMA / Metropolitan Museum of Art) in New York.
